The GGPA Board and Landscaping Committee approved a new Landscaping Conceptual Plan for the entry of GGP. The new plan is designed by landscape architect, Tim Borden, whose offices are on Fruitville Avenue. This design is the first phase of an update and redesign of the GGP Streetscape. It begins with a new entry and extends to the north -- the Streetscape area as you enter GGP and turn toward the right by 128 (Vista Bay Point) and 136 (The Phoenix).
The design calls for keeping the existing cabbage palm trees and replacing the current ground plants (coontie shrubs) with many new and varied plants. Photos of the plants Tim Borden selected are set forth on the plans. They are all hardy in this area and relatively easy to maintain and will provide color without being annuals. Each of the plants will come into bloom for part of the year, so it is intended to be a varying palette of plant material.
The Board and Streetscape members were very happy with the conceptual plan and unanimously voted to approve it. Comments and questions were sent to Tim Borden about individual plants and aspects of the plan. The plan has been provided to the City Parks Department as well for comments.
