In Memory of Bill Noonan, former Planning Chair
We are saddened to report the passing of Bill Noonan, GGPA Board Member and Chair of the GGPA Planning Committee on October 21, 2022.. Bill made significant contributions to the GGP community and the GGPA Board of Directors.
Bill lived in La Bellasara (464 GGP) with his wife Bonnie McIntyre. Bill and Bonnie spent their working careers with two US multi-national companies as expats in various foreign countries around the globe and became part-time residents of Sarasota beginning in 1992. They became full time residents of Sarasota in 2010 and moved to La Bellasara in April, 2020.
Bill was graduated from University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. He served in the US Army in Germany and was employed by Cummins and later Grainger. He was an accomplished sailor, and boats and automobiles were a lifetime interest.
Bill volunteered in many areas to benefit Sarasota. Bill was a founding member of the Sarasota STOP! Organization which was dedicated to increasing the role and importance of the public in the Sarasota City development approval processes.
Bill applied that knowledge as he worked on behalf of our neighborhood. He appeared numerous times on behalf of the Golden Gate Point community to address, among other things, serious parking issues on Golden Gate Point. In that capacity, he did research and provided the Sarasota City Planning Board with information about parking and accessibility of parking spaces with respect to development on GGP. He met with City planning officials to discuss the serious parking issues and zoning on Golden Gate Point. He served as GGPA liaison with the builders of En Pointe, working to assure communication between that project and GGP residents. Bill also served as Building Liaison of La Bellasara to the Golden Gate Point Association.
Bill brought his expertise, wisdom and a congenial manner to all of his efforts on behalf of GGP and the GGPA Board. He will be greatly missed. Our condolences to Bonnie and the family.
